“FROM LAUSANNE TO BEIJING”

10TH INTERNATIONAL FIBER ART BIENNALE AND SYMPOSIUM  

■ INTRODUCTION：

“From Lausanne to Beijing” International Fiber Art Biennale, with 9 exhibitions in the 18 years since 2000, has formulated the development pattern that not only embodies the academic and international features but also embraces the characteristics of popularization and socialization, thus becoming an internationally renowned academic art brand. It has developed into the most important platform for academic exchange in fiber art and the most influential art event as well. The 9^th Biennale, held in Shenzhen in 2016, created a historical record with more than 1200 entries from 45 countries for application and a display space of 5000 square meters, and became the Dissemination, Propagation and Exchange Program sponsored by China National Art Funds. The 10^th Biennale, to be held in 2018, wins sponsor again from China National Art Fund as the Dissemination, Propagation and Exchange Program. As the significant academic activity in Beijing International Design Week (2018), co-organized by The Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China and the People's Government of Beijing Municipality, the 10^th Biennale is considered to be a program with unique characteristics on the platform of cultural creativity and promotion at the national level. “From Lausanne to Beijing” International Fiber Art Biennale warmly welcomes participation and support from domestic and international artists, entrepreneurs and academics.  

■ GOALS：

“Artistic spirit is borderless, and fiber connects the world”. The 10^th Biennale aims to cultivate and formulate academic system of international fiber art, to facilitate international exchange and wide application of fiber art, to promote industrialization of fiber art oriented towards real-life applications, and to share the creative accomplishments accumulated in the 10 exhibitions of International Fiber Art Biennale.

■ WORK PROCESS SCHEDULE：

July 30^th, 2018     Preliminary Evaluation of Art Works

August 4^th, 2018    Publicizing the Result of Preliminary Evaluation

August 5^th, 2018    Sending Out Invitation Letters for Exhibition

Aug. 6^th-Sep.20^th    Collecting the Works

Oct.8^th –Oct.14^th    Setting up Exhibition

■ REQUIREMENTS FOR EXHIBITS　

1. Any two-dimensional or three-dimensional artwork in fiber or soft materials

2. The artwork, if packaged in the shape of a cylinder, should be no more than 150cm in length and no more than 50cm in diameter.

The artwork, if packaged in the rectangular shape, should have the length confined to 120cm, the width to 50cm and the height to 120cm.

3. For domestic artworks, the total of length, width and height should not exceed 200cm.

4. Please attach the photo of the entry and the information of the artist to the outer package of the artwork.

5. Time for Application: March 15^th---July 20^th, 2018 (This is the time for the receipt of Application Form)

6. Entry Used for Application:

(1) It must be electronic file in the form of tif or jpg with the accuracy of 300-500dpi, which can be printed.

(2) Please fill in the digital application form for each entry.

(3) Please email your completed application form to lbfiberart2018@163.com

7. The artist will be notified by the Organizing Committee on August 4^th if his/her entry is selected by the Evaluation Committee. The result will also be publicized through the official Wechat platform of “From Lausanne to Beijing” The 10^th International Fiber Art Biennale as well as on the website of fiber art (www.chinafiberart.com).

8. The selected artworks will be included in the Catalogue of “From Lausanne to Beijing” The 10^th International Fiber Art Biennale, and the catalogue will be published by China Architecture and Building Press.  

■ SEVERAL ISSUES REQUIRING ATTENTION：

 The selected artworks by the domestic college and graduate students will be exhibited in the A.C. Art Museum (1000 square meters).

1. It is the artist’s responsibility to pay the shipping cost of the artwork to Beijing; however, the Organizing Committee will cover the cost of return shipping unless the package of artwork exceeds the regulated dimensions, in which case the artist should pay for the return shipping.
